Our Ingredients

We use certified organic certified food-grade activated charcoal in our Teethpaste in small optimal amounts to help balance the pH levels in the mouth. Our charcoal is made from organic coconut shells that have been harvested in Sri Lanka, before being steam activated and carefully formulated into a superfine powder. Like bentonite clay, activated charcoal binds to positively-charged bacteria, removing toxins and stains from the surface of your teeth and mouth, and helping to whiten your enamel.

Our high-quality food grade certified organic Bentonite Clay is formed from volcanic ash that has been trapped in sea beds in Australia for eons. Rich in many minerals essential to good oral health, including calcium, silica, magnesium, sodium, iron and potassium, our bentonite clay may help deliver safe, natural, earth-sourced (real, non-synthetic) minerals directly to the saliva and gums, thus making your teeth stronger.

Bentonite clay is alkalising, and can help to detoxify your mouth thanks to its powerful negative charge which actively binds to and neutralises positively-charged heavy metals, toxins, and plaque (while leaving behind negatively-charged nutrients) to effectively remove unwanted microbes from your teeth and gums when using Teethpaste. Between this and the gentle polishing action of the superfine particles, bentonite clay may also assist to naturally whiten and brighten your smile.

Camellia Oil has been used in Chinese cooking for centuries and is extremely high in Vitamin E. Camellia Oil also contains many other essential nutrients such as oleic fatty acid, linoleic fatty acid, stearic acid, squalene, calcium, potassium, saponins, polyphenols that help the body produce antioxidants, and triterpenes which have incredible ability to boost the immune system. Camellia Oil is anti-inflammatory, and the Vitamin E content in the oil may help the regeneration and restoration of skin tissue, while fighting free radicals.

A well-known analgesic that is also antimicrobial and anti-inflammatory, clove bud essential oil helps increase circulation, and may assist with remineralising your teeth and preventing decalcification.

Our Ceylon coconut oil from Sri Lanka has a soft, pleasant taste. High in anti-inflammatory and antimicrobial lauric acid, coconut oil can significantly help eradicate bacteria that cause plaque, bad breath, gum disease, tooth decay, and illness, as well as lower inflammation (including gingivitis), help fight candida, and whiten teeth. When swishing with coconut oil, the saponification/cleansing effect reduces the adhesion of bacteria/plaque to teeth. Organic coconut oil is a gentle oil that supports a balanced oral microbiome.

Peppermint oil can greatly reduce inflammation of the gums and provide pain relief for toothaches. It is antiseptic, antimicrobial, and antiviral, and can help to eradicate bacteria that cause plaque and bad breath.

We only ever use clean, purified water in our products filtered through high quality filtration systems.

We use pure sea salt that has been through minimal processing and therefore still retains its broad spectrum natural mineral profile. Sea salt is alkalising, is a natural disinfectant and its cleaning ability may also help to whiten teeth. However, we do not recommend polishing enamel directly with sea salt, as teeth and gum tissues are highly sensitive. We only recommend using sea salt in a holistically balanced formula such as Teethpaste, where small optimal amounts have been blended in combination with specific ingredients to balance and increase the efficacy of sea salt.

We use certified organic stevia in small amounts to lightly sweeten and soften some of our Teethpaste blends. Stevia comes from the green leaf of a herbal plant that has been cultivated in South America for over 1500 years to sweeten herbal tea and treats. It has an antimicrobial effect on bacteria, particularly those that cause cavities and plaque. Unlike xylitol, erythritol and glycerin, which are sugar alcohols known to cause digestive upset, stevia is a natural herb and is digestible.

This soft, pleasant tasting oil from the seeds of sunflowers is nutrient-dense and may help support immune system health. High in Vitamin E and antioxidants, it also contains Vitamins A, D and K, lecithin, and carotenoids. When used in the mouth sunflower oil may help to reduce inflammation, plaque build-up (that can lead to cavities), and bacteria associated with gingivitis. Swishing with sunflower oil can help remove toxins from the body as well as help supplement some important nutrients. It may also help speed wound healing and skin regeneration, and improve skin elasticity.

We use NZ Tea Tree essential oil which is known for its powerful antifungal and antibacterial properties. Tea tree oil helps to eradicate bacteria that causes bad breath and plaque, and helps manage infections and chronic inflammation. It is a disinfectant, and antiseptic against oral pathogens.
